This is a fun book that provides ample inspiration and ideas to reorganize and redecorate your home or office. I use this book and gave copies to my kids. If you need a quick jump-start when your surroundings are ho-hum or cluttered, this is the best book to read to get unstuck. Don't trust the library to have it when you need it on a gotta-clean-this-messy-apartment kind of day; get your own copy. You'll refer to it often and, if it works for you as it has for my friends and family, it'll pay for itself in one use.

This book quite literally changed my life. It's the perfect book to read if you feel like things just haven't been going your way in any and all aspects of your life. I find myself pulling this book out every few months when my life feels unbalanced and it always finds a way to put me back on track. This has been my go-to fengshui book for years!

This book is entertaining, it represents a very westernized understanding about Feng Shui. It is more to advocate positive thinking than explaining how Feng Shui works. You will see a lot of "write down what you really want and put it in the respective corner in the house", or "put stuff with this color and this shape in this corner of the house". If this helps people to think & live more positively - that's fine. I've read several books about Feng Shui from some American authors (like this one) and also from other well-known feng shui masters in Asia and books by Asian authors make much more sense. If you want to really understand what Feng Shui is, or to seriously pursue this topic, I highly recommend to check out books by feng shui masters from Malaysia or Taiwan, Hong Kong. There are 2-3 very well known, not all of them write English books probably because they are very busy doing the actual work, but the few books that I've read were really good.

Very easy to read and practical guide to Feng Shui. My sister got this book from a friend and she shared it with me and I found it was very straightforward easy to follow . I like that she has a intuitive approach giving you ideas but letting you use your own sense of decorating style to achieve balance and harmony . I've only read one other book on the subject which tended to be more complicated and too much to read, so I lost interest . So far I can't say any miracles have happened however my sister has been trying to sell her house for quite some time and since applying some of these techniques she has already had several interested parties. One thing that is really significant about this book and sets it apart is that she really dives deeper into exploring what might be holding you back.emotional baggage is usually represented by material objects , taking a look at the stuff you're holding onto and how that can be hindering you can be extremely enlightening and freeing As I went through each section of the bagua it helps you unclutter and really take a look at your space and some of the junk that we carry around with us that may or may not be affecting our mental and emotional well being and growth.The house I live in is a semi circular shaped home so I'm concentrating on the rooms that I spend the most time in like with any metaphysical practice I think it's mostly focus. focusing your intent and giving the areas of your life that need improvement attention if you're going to read one book on feng shui this is where I would start .

Is the best book on feng shui I have ever had. This is the fifth copy I have bought to give to a friend. It is written so well and the author is so entertaining and her ideas are so easy to apply to your home

For anyone who has either been just confused by the many different schools of Feng Shui, or just wants to start from scratch with an extremely practical guide, this is it.The author covers all the basics and explains WHY they work, and is also careful to point out where there are extreme situations that need professional help beyond a book.It is rare to find any book that is so clear and hands-on in any field!This book is also well suited for Westerners who may not relate to all of the traditional Feng Shui cures, and it offers many alternatives for the cures that you may already have at home or can get nearby.

The trick to this is to have fun with it. At first I thought I was going to have to spend a lot of money & re-arrange everything, but this is not the case. I did end up spending under $50, but that was my preference, not necessary. The rest I can do with colored paper. The process makes you more attentive to things you are probably neglecting, such as: health, finances and the other life areas. Color does have power and vibration and light does effect us; ever have to sit under florescent lights with no natural light? Most people do and I think it is very stressful and helps contribute to much of the workplace misery. There are tips for office management in this book, but the focus is on your home and it's not something just for the richest one percent. All of us can perform feng shui with re-cycled goods, paper, tape & fabric. You can hide many of the solutions too and keep your decor. I don't know yet if it works, but it certainly can't hurt to take the directions & suggestions. It took me 3 days to read the book and make easy household changes, and the last part of the book is ongoing affirmations to help work on positive outlook. If you are cleaning out your house and garage, you've already stepped into the process, so why not try some easy feng shui and see what happens?

I have not read this cover to cover, but changed a few things (bed to a different wall, etc) and the vibe in my apartment really has seemed to improve! Go figure! ;)

I love reading interior design and feng shui books. At first, I checked it out at the library along with about a dozen other books. As we moved houses and our family grew, I kept checking this one out over and over. Figured it was time to buy it! It's probably a bit more "Feng Shui for Dummies" but I love how easy it is to read and follow.

This has been an annual purchase for many years without a hitch. The calendar is of its usual good content and quality. This year, delivery was less, much less, than perfect. Delivered late in the day during heavy rain, without so much as a ding-dong or a knock on the door (I guess it saves 10 seconds a delivery by Brown), when discovered the outer box was soaked, as was the cardboard envelope in which the calendar was enclosed. The calendar itself was only a little wet, but damp enough to cause rippling. The above is certainly not the fault of Wysocki, the calendar continues to be something we greatly enjoy throughout the year, but is intended to be recommendation to be watchful on the scheduled date of delivery if inclement weather is present or imminent. Amazon might be convinced to put paper products in a plastic bag for shipping, but I fear that might be considered environmentally unfriendly. Just sayin'

I love Charles Wysocki's work and this is the second year I have purchase a calendar and for the second time have been disappointed. When I got this one there were several pages that had not been cut/separated so I had to do it my self. I thought it was just a small area that needed to be separated so I gently slide my hand between them and after a couple of inches found it was a little longer than I thought and the pages ripped, tearing into the calendar. Also, the paper is too thin and the holes rip to easily. I will not purchase another unless Lang gets the rights to print his calendars because then I will know I will receive an excellent calendar.

Even though Charles Wysocki passed away in 2002, I am so thankful that I am able to still get these wonderful calendars. I have been a fan since to 80's. The quality is magnificent, the artwork that is used I never get tire of.

The idea for the novel came from Barrlett's wife when she heard the two authors discussing German fighter tactics.When published in 1948, the novel was hailed as "a mixture of nostalgia, sorrow and pride" and an "authentic record of the men and operations of a typical heavy bomber group."Barrlett and Lay believed that truth would strengthen the drama of the book, so it is no surprise that 12 O'Clock High was lauded for it's grit and authentisity.THE MOVIE: Before the movie was produced there was another film called "Command Decision", which stared Clark Gable and Walter Pidgeon, and had a similar theme as 12 O'Clock High.Sensing a good deal Fox and Paramount Studios started fighting Lay and Barrlett for the story rights. Darryl F. Zanuck of Fox finally won, by the tune of $100,000.Zanuck's job started by asking Bud Lighten to be producer and William Wellman as director.The Air Force was called in as technical advisors and also to lend support along with miltary equipment to the studio.On 3 November 1947 a synopsis had to be submited to the Pentagon for the Air Force to review. After a long back and forth battle, Col. John deRussy was assigned as technical advisor on 15 February 1949. He had a 90-day stint as liaison officer-technical advisor and was in charge of obtaining equipment and personnel for the film.Zanuck got rid of Lighten and Wellman, took over as producer and hired Henry King as director. This happened because of decreasing sales at the cinema from the introduction of television in the 1950s, and all the Hollywood studios were going broke.Fox introduced CinemaScope which was a radical change to the way people viewed films. After much soul searching the studios started to do shows for television.Quinn Martin (television producer and entrepreneur) formed his own company in 1960, calling it QM Productions. Still holding the rights to the novel, he had the idea that 12 O'Clock High would make a good series, but Twentieth Century-Fox had the money and property, so a relationship was formed between the two.In 1963, the pilot for the show began, and when the script was sorted out the title was 12 O'Clock High - The Series. The cast was Robert Lansing as Brig. Gen. Frank Savage with John Larkin, Frank Overton, Lew Gallo and Barney Phillips.Friday, 18 September 1964, was a great day in television as 12 O'Clock High had it's debut, but it was not the pilot film that got top billing. It was the third episode.Because of Quinn Martin's dislike of Robert Lansing, he was dropped after the first series, and later Martin wished that Lansing had not be replaced.The show became Fox's renaissance and in the second season Paul Burke took the lead in 1965 as Major Joe Gallagher. Chris Robinson, Andrew Buggan and Robert Dorman were also signed up.By 1967 the show had gone the same way as many before it and was re-assigned to the dustbin, after four seasons.This is a terrific book for all 12 O'Clock High fans as it has the complete history, all in one book, with a complete episode guide, an extras for the book information and collectibles, and the photos throughout the book are quite welcomed.It is one of those books that gets the respect it deserves, so I will give it five stars and recommend it to all fans, and to those people who wish to get a taste of what 12 O'Clock High was all about.I only hope that the series is not too long coming to dvd as well.

Highly recommend this book. A delightful, exciting, detailed book. The terrible irony, however, is that the original novel is long out of print. Make no mistake about it; Lansing was MAGNIFICENT! A gifted actor, he turned Savage into a multi-dimensional, living, breathing, fascinating human being. Like many others I was appalled when ABC/Quinn Martin replaced Lansing with Paul Burke in season two. Burke simply wasn't the actor Lansing was and the series went down in flames after season three.Duffin and Matheis' book chronicles the whole history of the "Twelve O'Clock High" saga, from the real-life World War II events and personalities that Beirne Lay and Sy Bartlett used to create the novel to the final episode of the TV show and what happened to the principals afterwards.The depth of research is truly impressive; the book's bibliography alone runs to 23 pages. It's just a shame that Peck, Dean Jagger, Lansing, Frank Overton and others weren't alive when Duffin began his research. The book is illustrated with dozens of rare photos and, again, it's a shame the publisher, BearManor Media, didn't use the better quality paper such a quality manuscript deserved.Whether you enjoyed the novel, movie or TV series - or all three - if you are a "Twelve O'Clock High" fan, you will want to buy this book! It is the definitive work on the subject and a good read as well. Highly recommended!

I had to buy this even though I already own a Mucha art book because it contains more than just the usual colored poster art he's known for. It's filled with rough pencil sketches, conte drawings, lettering, furniture carvings and design work! The binding is not the best but the material in here is great.

I am not easy to please when it comes to table books but this book is magnificent in its biographical scope and beauty, the prints inside sometimes even just look like I'm staring at the real thing right in my lap...

Beautiful book of the artist's work and stories about his life and inspirations. I love looking through it for my own inspirations. I usually buy Kindle books, but this one needs to be out on a coffee table where everyone can enjoy it.

He was a complete master of graphic design, his posters and period advertisements are now synonymous with the Art Nouveau movement. The graceful line, and elegant arrangement of shapes and colors compel art lovers even more now, than they did his intended audience, through their continual reproduction and publication.This book really features an artist less known and appreciated. While it includes a generous selection of posters, book illustrations and related designs, the true focus of this volume is the work he did in the years after the peak of Art Nouveau, when he embarked on a vastly ambitious cycle of works relating the history of the Slav people. For these works were monumental in scale as well as conception, and he spent the decades after his Paris fame engaged in their creation.Here we have Mucha as a painter and muralist, the power of his design skills are put to a different purpose than the promotion of events and products. If you are only interested in the Paris period of his work, this might not be the best single book for you, others cover that in great detail. For an overview of his entire output, however, this is a very valuable resource, lavishly and lovingly produced, it makes a great addition to the library of any art lover.

Dan Folger does an awesome job of detailing all the behind the scenes of the different depts coustume design and development of the wands for each character and why they chose that design as well as the concept of and fruition of the additional beasts. The actors take part in discussing the development of their characters. And it’s Dan Folger for goodness sakes I found myself laughing out loud in the car. At first I was disappointed that it wasn’t the actual book, but got over it quickly.
