I bought this book for my husband before our trip to Victoria. Before we left we went through alot of it and folded over pages for points of interest. This was a really useful book and gave alot of background on things that weren't the "tourist attractions". We enjoyed trying to get to as many of the places mentioned as possible. I would recommend getting books of a similar nature for any city you may be visiting.
Interesting stories behind Victoria but not really that usable as a guidebook in the Lonely Planet style ie. you wouldn't just land in Victoria without knowing anything and survive with your trusty guidebook. This is not that kind of guidebook.
Always wanted to know the secrets of the city I lived in growing up
