All the drama, fear, uncertainty, dread, torment and intrigue increases while tension spirals as the plot thickens. I am not sure which one I liked the most, but I think I liked the last one the least. It wouldn't make any sense for the world to continue revolving with such a wicked individual as Beatrice, getting away with everything. She was extremely abusive. That wouldn't have been tolerated to the extent it was described in the story. Anyhow, I can't say I'd recommended these. There are other Regency stories that aren't so convoluted. But read others' reviews. Maybe someone else liked the stories more than I did. I would definitely recommend reading several reviews, both ends of the spectrum.

Time to fall in love with three great Dukes and their ladies in this collection of wonderful tales. I was immediately drawn into the first story about a forced marriage to the scarred monster in her rendition of beauty and the beast. He was gentle, sweet, had a sense of humor, and a tragic tale that drove him in desperation into an arranged marriage. But he was a quality individual much like his bride and you root for them with hope and great interest in the details and imagery. Then in book 2 and 3...more delightful characters. You will enjoy this collection!

A well-written boxed set of clean Historical Regency books I enjoyed reading the books and will be reading them again at a later time. I could not say which one was my favorite as they all have their own merits making each story one I was not putting down until it was finished.

Friendship, familial drama, a twist or two thrown in for good measure, and a touch of intrigue are woven into descriptive tales of romance. A trio of sweet, slow burn regency romances, that have a nice HEA. I already own the books in this set.

Honestly, Beauty for the Scarred Duke was my favorite of all the books in this set. I loved it. I enjoyed all the rest of them as well. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.

These books were great as stand alone stories, but as a collection... gift worthy even!I’ve always enjoyed Bridget’s clean cut stories -that I can share with all my ladies, young and “perpetually 29” alike!

I saw a documentary some time ago about Lewis Hine, which I can't find, and I came across this book. The documentary showed photos that Hines had taken before there were child labor laws and the photos were graphic showing children in mills on top of machines without any guards on them and the loss of limbs and all sorts of serious injuries. I thought that this book would have those photos. It didn't. Not only that,but the book is very small and thin. It has large font writing in it. It is not what I was looking for. It is definitely not worth the price ! I would expect this book to be on sale at a Barnes and Noble type store for a few dollars. I was disappointed.

We bought this book as a supplement to the audio CD below.After listening to the CD and getting this book, we weren't expecting the wonderful surprise of interest it all generated in our family! We ALL were so into it! (Age range 4-10 and myself!) The kids would immediately ask for me to turn it back on to continue whenever we got in the car. After we finished the CDs, they as to hear it AGAIN! It was just as good the second time.As far as audio CDs go, they are often only as good as the reader. This one definitely hits the mark! This reader is wonderful and easy to listen to. Not boring at all! Moves along smoothly and quickly.Don't skip the author interview at the end! This too is fabulous! Provides so much interesting insight into the story. Do not listen to the interview first, it may skew your vision of the story a bit.There is also a free teacher's guide at the author's website.[...]These would make a delightful gift pairing for any child.

Freedman has collected dozens of black and white photographs taken by Lewis Hine during the first decades of the twentieth century. Hine worked as an investigational photographer for the National Child Labor Committee (NCLC). The NCLC wanted the United States government to pass laws concerning child labor, and thought that photos of the work children did would be more effective persuaders than mere speeches and statistics. Hine traveled the nation with his camera taking photographs, sometimes despite risk to his person.The text of the book serves partly as a brief biography of Lewis Hine, and partly as explanatory backdrop for the scenes in the photographs. Freeman gives enough background information to put the images in their context, but not so much data as to overwhelm the reader. The machines, tools and environments are so strange to the modern eye that without clarification, many pictures would be meaningless.The most shocking photographs in the collection are of the young boys involved in the coalmines. The filth on their faces, hands and clothing is astonishing. By comparison, the dangers and deplorable conditions of working in a cotton mill are not as readily apparent as those of working in a coal mine. However, reading Freeman's text exposes the dangers of moving machinery and smothering lint and humidity not so clear in the photos.The book concludes by sharing the changes in child labor laws that Hine's photographs helped bring about, as well as information on the child labor situation of today.This book is full of eye opening and shocking information for the unaware. School may be hard, but without child labor laws things could be so much worse.

This is important photographic history, though written with an anticapitalist slant. While child labor was certainly a black mark on our nation's history when taken in the context of today's accepted thinking, at the time period children worked much harder on farms. Most of these children came from farm families that were forced into the city by lean crop yields. With massive crowding and families in need of money, children were once again expected to contribute to the family's income, just as on the farm. The end of child labor under such conditions should be celebrated.

This is a great little volume. Although it's theoretically for students, I believe adults would find it riveting. First of all, the photos taken by Lewis Hine tell the narrative on their own. However, Russell Freedman, as always, provides insight and thoughtful commentary worthwhile for younger and older readers. In terms of "how it is," I'm referring to child labor (often child slavery) as it exists today in other parts of the world. Looking at these pictures helps to make the plight of those children more real and more urgent.

This is a fascinating book and I highly recommend it. If we are not vigilant and mindful, and choose not to participate in the political fortunes of our country, we could go back to the days of child labor. I think that would be sad.

The book was very good and fun to read. I almost always had a hard time with History when I was in high school. But this book made learning about kids working in bad and dangerous conditions more enjoyable to learn. I like it a lot because it has pictures and quotes about the kids experience which gives you a strong picture of what life was like for those poor kids. It makes happy knowing today that kids go to school and even grownups don't work in such harsh conditions.

Really, really nice . Good photos . Good size . Nice proportion to hold it in your hands and palms .They are physical but intimately it touches me in a weird way . I remember in transformed and inspired me at that point of my life in my project . Thank goodness . Well, your experience might be different :) Got it for $7 in February 2005 . I heard of Eunice Ingham while taking a Reflexology class. I ordered her book hoping to learn more and was intrigued withher knowledge. I love her stories as well as the wonderful information she shares!

Read this about 20 years ago when I was in high school. Its served me well. Needed to purchase a copy these years later and I find its just as accurate as ever. A must have.

In the Western world, this book appears to be the original work on the practice of reflexology, and while portions of it may seem to be a bit dated, it's still the most scientific, ego-free work dealing with the topic. Most happily, it takes a straightforward approach and presents logical, easy-to-follow guidelines for both amateurs and practitioners of this fascinating and still not fully understood science. I use it in tandem with several more recent works and find that it answers most questions I have.

It is the basic helps for reflexology and I have used Stories feet have told & Stories feet can tell for years it is an excellent source of help these were the first 2 books and this one sums up the knowledge of both books thank you for your time in writing them for our use

YES! I love this book. My 3yo son recently asked why he couldn't hold water, so I bought this book to explain it. My kids found it interesting and can how tell you the difference between states of matter. It's really well done in terms of simple explanations (but also has a surprising amount of detail) and has cute illustrations. I highly recommend this book (and the series) to any science oriented parents.

The subject is matter. It does a pretty good job explaining the concept to young kids. My 2nd grader just read it. Although the age range is up to 3rd grade, these books also reinforce science concepts to my 6th grader. Four stars because in this series there is inevitably there is always 1-2 pages they don't do well.

Great book! I recommend it and so do my students.
