Use the f-word a little f-ing more. Because it’s the f-ing in thing now, you know what I f-ing mean?And I’m like, I f-ing know. I just didn’t know if you’d be f-ing into it.And she goes like. I’m f-ing into it John. We’ve gotta reach the kids. They’re the f-ing future.And I’m all like, Yeah, I f-ing know.Then she goes like, And put more silliness and Heartwarming Sentiment into the f-ing sex scenes, John. The kids really go for that. And it’s alright to end your book a little early with a cliffhanger. Don’t worry about the words. Nobody really cares about the words. And no one expects to be satisfied. That's like f-ing last century. We can sell more books, that way. Just like a TV series, make them hang on for a year. The heroine’s not going anywhere.And I'm like, Yeah, I know. TV is the f-ng future.And she’s all like, I’m glad you understand, John. This will be a great book!

I am not one to normally write a review, especially a negative one about an author I generally have warm feelings towards, however, this one merits a brief poor review (almost as brief as the book itself). My main issue with this book has to do with the value of it, for almost fourteen dollars I received a three hour read that felt at best incomplete. I am no speed reader by any means, at best I read at a slightly above average pace. A slow pace would have a reader finishing this in maybe six hours. At one point I checked on my e-reader how much of the book I had left as I was on the start of chapter 4, I had approximately 20% of the book read at that point. I enjoy the authors style often as it is rather direct and for me light on explaining science (I know, I know "science fiction") but it often is rather enjoyable as a space opera. However, if you are going that route creating such a short story is problematic, especially when it is priced so high for a kindle book. Many others felt this way about the first book in this series and while I saw their point this book only exacerbates this to an unholy degree. I hate to give such a negative review but when I finished it I felt like 1/3 of a book does not merit my time or money. I felt cheated.

He manipulated circumstances and characters to make his views appear not merely reasonable, but any other view custard-headed. He was one hell of a writer, and so I read everything he wrote, despite personally being custard-headed.These books by Mr Salzi are much more inclusive and even handed than that - or, for that matter this review. Mainly because Mr. Scalzi is a far better writer than I am.Science fiction is the literature of ideas. Those ideas come clothed in a good story. But, the best of science fiction asks us to think.I like thinking. That's why I like science fiction. If you don't like thinking, these may not be the right books for you.I think "The Consuming Fire" is going to be nominated for a Hugo. I hope it wins. And I hope the third book in the series is on Mr. Scalzi's writing schedule.

Interesting history on pop culture and Motorcycles

The Life Harley-Davidson is a meditation on freedom and rebellion and the sheer exhilaration of speed, among other things. It’s also a history book, telling the entertaining story of the Harley-Davidson corporation’s rollercoaster ride, from modest beginnings through repeated cycles of boom and near-bust to its present precarious success. Along the way, Holmstrom slips in an erudite analysis of social change in the US, at least where motorcycles are concerned.This may sound too serious to be fun, but the sections are all short and pithy, taking only a few minutes to read. Truly cool pictures break up every block of text, and the book is written in fast-paced prose that is genuinely funny. (It’s also highly literate, but in a good way that makes it readable, not pretentious.) I smiled and chuckled my way through the book. Even the most fanatical Harley fan is likely to discover new facts and insights, but even if he or she doesn’t the pictures alone still make the book a bargain and will provide an entertaining way to spend a cooped up rainy weekend.You don’t need to care a fig about motorcycles to get a bang out of The Life, but if you’ve ever loved a motorcycle, you’ll love this book!

I might be a bit biased since I wrote this, but seriously, it's a damned good book. Chapter four, the chapter about the role of Harley-Davidson in popular culture (over 30 percent of the book--that's why I insisted on putting Elvis on the cover!) is the best thing I've ever written. I haven't had this much fun writing a book for years.

This is a really fun book on the history of Harley Davidson and its place in pop culture. The text is accompanied with a lot of wonderful photographs. The book is an easy read. Anyone with an interest in motorcycles or pop culture will enjoy this book. It will also make a great gift

It seems a large portion of this book is dedicated to The Life Harley-Davidson in popular culture.I admit I picked up this book to learn more about the early years of Harley-Davidson and I appreciate the section on 'War Booty' which seems rather fitting as Elvis Presley is on the cover and my favorite movie of his was GI Blues. And when one thinks in the terms, 'Leader of the Pack", Elvis did stand out.But more than the pop -culture movies, such as, The Wild One, Easy Rider, Judgement Day, The Wild Angels or Wild Hogs, this book is truly geared to anyone that enjoys the beauty of the machine or the freedom it provides.I reviewed this book for Net Galley

I had a hard copy of this book. Much of it is hard for me to understand. I don't have anywhere near Hand-Clow's education or life experience. Still, I could understand enough to keep me interested over the years, so about once a year, I go beck to it, and reread sometimes parts, and sometimes, the whole book. Gradually, my understanding increases. The old paper copy was getting rather ratty, so I was happy to find it available for my Kindle. I just finished the rereading of it, for maybe the 4th or 5th time. It goes a long way back in Gaia's earliest beginnings, and gives a pretty strong argument for why we are such a fear based planet. The only reason I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars, is because of the very density of the written material itself. Yet, its one of those books that's been a great blessing to me just by exposure to new perspectives and ideas. I would recommend ALL Barbara Hand-Clow's books to anyone interested in a different perspective of why we are who and where we are at this time.

Author lays out her hypothesis of racial memory scars from major earth cataclysms reasonably well. However, she overuses italics for emphasis, so I felt like she was yelling at me rather than trusting me to get the point. She's also dogmatic and puts down other theories, rather than simply disagreeing with them. And finally, she's very big on the conspiracy of the Elite. Personally, I don't think there's one reason for anything, and I don't think any of us sees the whole picture. I bailed as I got into the next to last chapter. Gave the book to a friend who has the original version, Catastrophobia. That said, Clow does make some interesting connections.

After reading both the Mayan Code and Catastrophia, I was please to find that Barbara Hand Clow had written another book that expanded on the ideas from those books, and I was not disappointed. This book may not be for everyone, but when considered along with those other two books, Awakening the Planetary Mind helps reveal some answers to many of the puzzles that have confounded people for centuries. I particular like how Hand Clow doesn't automatically attribute things like the Pyramids of Giza and other archaeological sites to extraterrestrials, but show how human beings living on Earth were able to accomplish such engineering marvels.As far as what a previous reviewer said, that the book just gives intellectual information about the subject matter, I guess the reviewer overlooked Hand Clow's extensive references and end notes that cite her sources and help expand her ideas even further. I bought one of these, The Language of Emotions, and can say that if you are looking for more "emotional depth," then it will provide all that you may desire. Otherwise, I think Hand Clow's book provide much food for thought and certainly many ideas that can be explored further in future books.

This revised edition is so-o-o much better than other books by the same author. It's well written, is more informative, cites and clearly explains good sources (most of which are far from being recognized by mainstream academia in any near and far future), does less other-planetary channeling, and thus appeals, with its this-worldly language, to this barely awakened human reader. It's definitely more than worth reading, waking up and building upon.

Barbara Hand Clow has an immense knowledge in archeology, history, astrology and psychology. She manage to convey these insights to the reader without being difficult or scholarly complex. And we easily accept her findings as true ones. That is an amazing achievement from an author balancing her text between so many disciplines. Her thoughts and insights are great. Describing world phenomenons that most us never will or can comprehend. Myths are created and deconstructed. She explains the fundamental principles for how that works. And her theories are needed right now, in a world collapsing, and new myths are finally emerging.

Thank you Barbara Hand Clow for this timely update from your original work Catastrophobia. As the Mayan Calendar has unwound to its quantum potential now is the moment not only for greater awakening but also a time to remember what we have long forgotten. With meticulous detail this book lays bare this adventure to remember the pain we have long buried in our bones and that has been preserved for centuries in oral traditions. For a person devoted and follows Mary, or is not too familiar with the mother of God, this book is excellent. It explains every angle from the Church's point of view. Why she is named mother of God. Why she is mother of us all. How and why she is so involved in our lives, whether we understand or not. This book will help you understand. It is also a book overflowing with love. Love from God the Father, to the Son, to the Spirit, to Mary. The only drawback is some of the terms. Some are explained. Some are not. A glossary, short and simple could be beneficial to the beginner learning about Mary.

My children attend a traditional Catholic school with Latin Mass and a motto of To Jesus Through Mary. I'm thankful for this book opening my eyes and heart to understanding their mission at the school and church. As a cradle Catholic from a liberal church I was lacking in this knowledge.

I love the format of this book. I am a cradle catholic & have a strong devotion to Mary. Please if you are not catholic don't let that hinder you from reading this book! What I love about it is the way it is written for non-catholics & catholics alike to really understand Mary as our heavenly mother, not just the woman that gave birth to Jesus. This book explains (with scripture) why every person to embrace Mary as our heavenly mother. At the end of the book it also discusses briefly Mary's apparitions & the message she gives with each one.

As a Protestant believer, this book really helped me understand the Catholic dogmas of Mary. It was very detailed but presented information in such a way that I understood it, not having much previous knowledge on the subject
